About the age of fifteen, an astrological reading for the zodiac sign of Scorpio mentioned that I should never fly on a Tuesday.
I didn't give this much thought until I was away at college and responsible for my own travel plans, but whenever I was about to schedule a flight this would re-enter my mind. So yes, I always managed to avoid taking flight on a Tuesday.
Then, I couldn't help but notice that the tragic events of September 11, 2001 occurred on a Tuesday, further solidifying this "message."
Will I spend the rest of my life avoiding Tuesday flights?
As someone who is committed to replacing fear-based messages in my own life and mindful of the messages I give to my daughter and others, I really wanted to take a look at this.
According to Bertrand Russell, "fear is the main source of superstition...to conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom." I now recognize that my fear of flying is what caused me to interpret this "message" as one of caution.
However, from the perspective of a loving Universe that only wants the best for me, that astrological reading signifies something entirely different.
Tuesday is associated with the planet Mars (one of the rulers of Scorpio), making it a day of action and initiative. It is touted by some to be the most productive day of the workweek. From that viewpoint, it would seem that my time and energy would be best spent taking action in some way rather than sitting for hours on an airplane or waiting in an airport.
In determining how we live in the world, it is important that we diligently sift through the messages we receive from the media, books and other sources and decipher our own truth.
Fear and deep seated beliefs can color our interpretation of what is real and true and alter the direction of our lives. But fear can be transformed with compassionate reflection and loving guidance.
Never let fear keep you from taking flight, no matter the day of the week. Go in the direction of your dreams and there is where you will truly soar.
Love and Blessings,
