Do Affirmations Really Work?

Yes, they do!
Affirmations are positive statements that empower us to CREATE a better reality for ourselves.  Create is an action word.  It means "to cause to come into existence."  When we are clear about what we want and take action, we can cause amazing things to happen in our own lives.

Hearing someone say, "You are amazing,  you can do this,"  affirms you.  It makes you want to do better.  It causes you to believe in yourself.  Affirmations allow us to do that for ourselves on a daily basis. Waking up and saying "Today will be amazing," is an affirmation.  You are affirming that no matter what happens, it will be amazing.  And, so it will be.

Affirmations work in a similar way advertisements work.  When we receive the same messages over and over again, we begin to believe them.  We connect to the them.  If you feel as though you are saying a bunch of words that you don't connect to, then they won't be as effective.  You have to feel that they are true or can be true.  One of the amazing  qualities of our human bodies is the ability to know if something is true.  We can feel it within ourselves.  When you make an affirmation and then do or say something that conflicts with the affirmation, you will know it.  If you affirm that "I am giving my body all that it needs to be healthy,"  the moment you put something into your mouth that is not aligned with your affirmation, you know it.  You then make the choice, to enforce the affirmation or push it aside.  If you affirm that "Kindness matters,"  the moment you say an unkind word, you know.  You feel it.  Your body will help you remain true to whatever you affirm.

So, what if you are real clear about a desired outcome and do all that you possibly can to create it?  The next step is to trust and be open to life.  When you don't immediately get exactly what you want, trust that the timing is not right.  See it as yet another opportunity.  There is still something that needs to be in place or something left to be learned.  Often, it is only when you reflect back that you can truly see the perfect order to things.   Or, you ended up with something even greater than you could have ever imagined.   Be open to replacing your dreams with newer ones.  Allow life to lead you to where you intended to be or bring you to an even greater place beyond your original dream.
