My Birthday Wish

I celebrated my birthday this week and took a brief inventory of my life over the past year.  There has been much growth, many realized dreams and some surrendered hopes.  As I expressed my gratitude and recorded my hopes for the year ahead, it became clear that there is not much else to ask for.  So, what do I wish for?  I wish for many happy moments and much laughter in the coming year.

I love to laugh.  In fact, I married a man whose wit and humor continue to be a source of much laughter...on most days.  I have been known to erupt into uncontrollable laughter even in moments when I try really hard not to.  On many occasions, I have had to explain to my daughter that I am not laughing at her, but rather at something funny that she said.

While it's not easy to explain this to a young child, it is good to be able to laugh at yourself and even at life.   Laughter feels good.  It lightens our hearts.  It's calming to our bodies.  It nourishes our souls.  We may not be able to find humor in every situation, but we can often find some reason to laugh.

Remember to laugh and laugh often.  A moment of laughter can allow joy into the most difficult day.

"You don't stop laughing because you grow old.  You grow old because you stop laughing."-Michael Pritchard

Love to you,
