This morning, my seven-year old was cutting and pasting from a magazine as part of a homework assignment. At the same time, she was singing a song, making up the words as she went along. She really caught my attention as she sang the words, "I'm doing what I was born to do." I said, "What a beautiful song." Then asked, "So what were you born to do?" She thought for a few seconds, then looked at me and said, "to be a kid." I smiled. I had expected her to say that she was born to be an artist because I can already see her affinity to creative expression. But, then realized the beauty of her response.
As adults, we often find ourselves faced with so many responsibilities. We define our success by our work and how much we are able to accomplish in a given day. There is limited time for the things that are most meaningful and truly bring us joy. We forget how vital it is to just be, to play and simply have fun.
What activities did you enjoy as a child? Is there something new that you would like to explore? There is so much that awaits you if you are truly open. Go for it! Be inventive and expand your creativity. Find out what truly makes your heart sing.
Love to everyone,
